Yonkers, New York The former Blessed Sacrament Monastery in Yonkers, New York has been converted into a transit-accessible site for the Greyston Foundation's Adult Day Health Center, serving people with HIV in an innovative multi-service program. The complex provides beautiful, handicap-accessible housing for homeless people with AIDS, and a state-of-the-art health care facility, which provides traditional and complimentary therapies. The old chapel has been converted into a community interfaith center. The Center provides day care, social services and job training in an innovative program, helping people thrive with HIV. Maitri Center and Issan House was the first green AIDS housing built in the United States, using materials which intentionally reduce VOC and other toxic building material impacts on the residents living and being treated there. Jonathan Rose Companies’ affiliate, The Affordable Housing Development Co., joined the not-for-profit Greyston Foundation as co-developer, and managed the design, and construction of the project.
