New York, New York Jonathan Rose Companies is serving as a consultant to Harlem RBI in preparing a Project Plan for site selection and development to expand their ongoing programs and develop a new Charter School. The goal of Harlem RBI is to ensure that participants who enter the program as vulnerable children graduate as resilient young adults. Harlem RBI, a non-profit organization, is a community-based, youth development program for over 650 youth, ages 7-18, in East Harlem, New York. Harlem RBI’s mission is to use baseball and softball, and the power of teams, to provide inner-city youth with the opportunity to Play, to Learn and to Grow, inspiring them to recognize their potential and realize their dreams. The DREAM Charter School’s mission is to educate East Harlem children through a comprehensive K-8 program that builds a community of passionate lifelong learners. Harlem RBI creates long-term relationships with youth and their families, providing them with comprehensive services and opportunities. Harlem RBI’s preference is to find one permanent site that accommodates the full enrollment program of the DREAM Charter School, the after school and summer programs and expanded administrative office space. The acquisition plan developed by Jonathan Rose Companies provides a one-site strategy option but because of the challenging real estate market is also looking at other options. It is Harlem RBI’s intention to develop all facilities in an environmentally responsible way.
