Brooklyn Academy of Music Annex Theatre
Brooklyn, New York

BAM

Located in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is at the center of the BAM Cultural District, a New York City initiative to create a hub of visual and performing arts activity in Downtown Brooklyn.

Jonathan Rose Companies is working with BAM to support its aim of creating an inspiring 270-seat performance space, rehearsal studio, archive, library and office space for support staff.

Built in conjunction with Department of Cultural Affairs the BAM Annex Theatre will be an affordable venue for hosting performances by emerging and cutting-edge talent, meetings and gatherings by community organizations, and educational programs.

With the vision to build a facility that is accessible to an eclectic group of constituents – inclusive of those with limited budgets and experience – BAM seeks to create community partnerships engaging the flow of people and ideas in a vibrant space.

The BAM Annex Theatre will be located directly adjacent to the historic BAM Opera House. The site is occupied by a former Salvation Army building. Designed to achieve LEED Silver, this renovated landmark building’s design will include no or low voc materials, an energy efficient mechanical system, and day lighting for all occupants.
