52nd Street Project

Jonathan Rose Companies is serving as Owner’s Representative for The 52nd Street Project, an organization that brings inner-city youth together with professional artists to create theater through unique mentoring relationships.

For the past 25 years, the 52nd Street Project has been located in several spaces within the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. Recently the Project was invited by the Department of Cultural Affairs to occupy space in the Archstone Clinton development as part of the City’s cultural bonus program.

Moving to the new location and gaining additional space will allow the organization to expand and offer additional programs.

The new facilities are meant to provide a home away from home for staff members and youth ages eight to eighteen. The program will accommodate a black-box multi-use performance space as well as rehearsal, classroom and administrative spaces. The 52nd Street Project will share four floors with two other theater groups including Art New York.

The interior fit-out is designed to exceed LEED Silver standards, emphasizing environmental responsibility through the selection of efficient mechanical and lighting systems as well as nontoxic materials. The core and shell incorporates green systems and materials and includes turbine- generated power produced on-site.
